Steve Hooker confident with his preparation for the Samsung Diamond League Meeting – Athletics news
Bigger competitions feature better quality athletes and when an entire lot of formidable competitors are on their toes to outdo competitors in an event, it pushes every player to put forward their best on the given day.
Faced by the challenge of resuming his game at the Herculis Diamond League Meeting, to be held in Monaco, Steve Hooker, the 28-year-old Australian Pole Vaulter, who boasts of a personal best of 6.06m, is all set to return to the track. He is confident about
performing well at the event and is opting for the best training he can attain to get in top shape.
While appearing on the field at a huge event of the season, Hooker, who is resuming his game after a hiatus of about nine months, recently shared his thoughts and revealed about the preparations he has been making for event in hand. Expressing his resolve
to make a comeback in the game, the Olympic gold medallist wrote, “One of my goals for this year is to improve throughout the season. I’m not expecting to set the world on fire in my first couple of competitions, but I’d like to set down a solid foundation
I can build on.”
Dwelling upon his physical fitness, which had not been that good amid a knee injury which kept him from training, the gold medallist of the 2008 Beijing Olympics said that he was feeling quite good now. The last two months, which he spent in a tough training
session, had done a lot of help to him and also assisted him in building up good shape.
Revealing the details of his travelling plans and about how he was feeling for the event itself, the gold medallist of the 2009 world athletics championships, held in Berlin, added further to his statement, “I leave here (Perth) on 22 June and at the moment
Monaco (22 July) is my first completion. It’s usually one of the best competitions of the season, which might seem a little daunting to some people, but it’s actually one of the best places to jump, given the conditions.”
Amid the left knee injury, a major hurdle for a pole vaulter was to go through training sessions and it took him longer than he had planned to make a comeback in the game. The good news for his spectators though, is that he was feeling better now. The injury
has healed and improved to the extent that it is no more a major hurdle in his way to prepare for the big event. Now, he is not only working out with it, but has also succeeded in building up some energy, which is something crucial for maintaining his physical
shape.
