Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean has revealed he is not willing to give up on young striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Junior-c20060 Hoilett, who is yet to commit his long term future at the Premier League club.
It has been almost a year now since Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 have been attempting to sign Hoilett on a long term basis. Unfortunately for the club, the Canadian striker has refused to sign a contract extension with the struggling side.
While he was linked with a move away in the January transfer window, Hoilett decided to remain with Blackburn Rovers until the end of the season. It is believed he will move during the summer transfer window to another Premier League side.
Scottish manager Steve Kean admitted it was tough continuing talks with a player who seemed to want to leave the club but revealed he was willing to wait until the end of the season. He believed the club had to be patient when it came to dealing with players
they wanted to retain.
Kean said while speaking to reporters:
“We would like to think that the way that he's playing, he's been playing with a spring in his step and he's back to the form that he had before the transfer window opened so we've not given up on that.
There's no reason why, moving forward, we can't agree something that we can get pen put to paper on at the appropriate time.”
Kean believed Hoilett was currently in a position where he could be convinced to remain with Blackburn Rovers, as long as Kean could prove to him that the side would avoid the drop zone at the end of the season. The manager claimed to be optimistic regarding
talks and the possibility of Hoilett staying past the end of the season.
He continued:
“I think what he's got to do is just forget about everything and just make sure he's playing and performing the way he is.
We've not given up and if it gets to the end of the season and we are where we think we're going to be, there's no reason why Junior can't agree a contract with us.”
