Steve Kean disappointed with protestors as Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 4-3
Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean revealed he was disappointed with the protest arranged by a section of the supporters calling for his removal before the English Premier League clash against Arsenal at Ewood Park. After a shaky start, the Rovers went
on to win 4-3, which may very well have saved Kean’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 at the club.
Over 700 fans protested outside Ewood Park before the match, which had put Kean under added pressure before the difficult fixture against the Gunners. After a terrible start to the season; three losses and a draw in the opening four games, the fans demanded
Kean’s removal.
However, with a narrow win over the Gunners, Kean may have extended his stay with Blackburn Rovers. He took over from Sam Allardyce last year in December and did well to save the club from relegation last season. Into his full season with the club, he has
not managed to impress too many people.
Despite the mass protest, Kean insisted he was happy to meet with the fans before the match and answer their questions. The Scotsman felt a lack of communication was partially to blame for their discontent and felt matters had improved after their meeting.
Kean said while speaking to reporters:
“I was aware there was going to be a protest and I met one of the organisers from the unofficial supporters' club and we had a real good chat at the training ground.
They were asking lots of questions about different aspects of the training and young players at the club and I had a very open and frank conversation with them.”
Kean felt that there were about just 2% of fans who were not satisfied with the way things were, as could be judged by the supporters who showed up for the march. The Blackburn Rovers revealed he was happy as long as he had the support of the remaining 98%.
While he admitted that his side had not been able to score goals and had missed important opportunities, Kean insisted the squad were doing well. With two penalties missed against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019, Blackburn Rovers need to find the back of the net every once in a
while if they want to keep the fans happy.
Kean revealed:
“We've been playing well and our performances have been good, so it's been disappointing to get a bit of stick, but you take it on the chin and we bounced back yesterday.”
Even though the widespread belief was that a defeat to Arsenal would have cost Kean his job at the club, the Rovers boss insisted that was not the case. Kean said he was on excellent terms with the owners, who were coincidentally at the match on Saturday
to watch the game.
He said:
“No, I didn't think that. I've had fantastic backing from the owners (Venky's) and they were at the ground.”
