Steve Kean looking to build on Arsenal victory as Blackburn Rovers travel to Newcastle United
Steve Kean, the Blackburn Rovers manager, revealed he was certain his side would improve in their upcoming fixtures after the narrow win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 as they prepare for the trip to Newcastle United in the English Premier League today.
Despite their poor start to the season, Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 have an impressive form against Newcastle United in the Premier League and Kean will be relying on that more than anything as his side travel to St. James’ Park to ensure they retain their winning
ways.
Kean said while speaking to reporters:
“That's what victories do for you. Our performances had been good but we didn't manage to get victories.
Now we are looking forward to the next game and trying to keep the momentum going.”
The Rovers boss felt his side had been lifted by the win over the Gunners last weekend, which had been his side’s first win of this season. The much needed three points lifted Blackburn Rovers out of the relegation zone and have put an end to the calls for
Kean’s removal as manager of the club.
However, Kean will be aware that he is not truly out of danger as yet and will need to secure a few more wins to earn the fans’ support again. He admitted that while their record at St. James’ Park would be helpful, the team had to improve defensively.
He said:
“We have a great record up there in the last few years but we have to go about the game in the right manner and be very cautious at the back.”
The attacking players did well to score 4 goals against Arsenal, but the defensive four were not as impressive as they let in three goals. Kean was confident his striking force would be able to score goals away from home, having previously just scored the
majority of their goals at Ewood Park.
Kean continued:
“We have got a lot of attacking players and such is the nature of the lads that we are going to create chances, probably leave ourselves a little bit open now and again because we are trying to push forwards and get goals.”
