Steve Kean pleased as Blackburn Rovers return to the English Premier League after 3-0 win over Pune FC
Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean revealed his side had greatly benefitted from their tour to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/India-c750 and the 3-0 win in the friendly clash against Pune FC. Because of Indian owners, Venky’s, the English Premier League side travelled to the South Asian country
during the international break for the long overdue tour that was initially scheduled for the summer.
While in India, Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jason-Roberts-c17973 scored a brace, with
Ruben Rochina adding a lone goal to guarantee his side the win against the 10-man Pune side.
Kean said in an interview:
“We have plenty of positives to take back with us for our game next week against Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314.”
According to the Scottish manager his side had learnt a lot from their clash during the international break and were now somewhat better prepared for their next Premier League clash. Blackburn Rovers face newly promoted side Queens Park Rangers after league
matches commence next weekend and will aiming for a win. While the Rovers boss admitted he was pleased with the win, he said they were respectful to the host side.
Kean continued:
“First of all, any game we play is worth winning. We were very respectful of our opponents.
We are a little bit disappointed that they had a man sent off. The referee had to make the decision and obviously it was going to be a little difficult for the opposition.”
While Kean did not think it would have made too much of a difference, he regretted the fact that Pune had a player sent off early on in the game. He revealed the home side had been terrific, managing not to concede any more goals considering the fact that
the Premier League side had over 30 shots on goal. Kean was certain the trip had been good for the team as they looked to resume their regular routine.
He revealed:
“We had 49 shots on goal with almost 30 of them on target. It shows that our possession was good. We'll take that forward, it has been a very good week.
It was a great week for the guys to spend a lot of time together.”
