The 27-year-old wanted to leave the club in the previous summer transfer window but was convinced by Kean and the management to remain with the Rovers. Samba was made certain promises, which according to the player were not kept.
Apart from that, Samba revealed he wanted a move away from the struggling Blackburn Rovers side since he wanted a fresh experience. While he was convinced to stay in the summer, the Congolese central defender was forced to stay in the January transfer window.
Samba went as far as to hand in a transfer request as Blackburn Rovers failed to make any changes a few months into the season. However, the club denied him the move and the player had to resort to claiming that he would not feature for the Rovers if he
was not allowed to leave.
That combined with the abusive fans and protestors created an atmosphere of doubt at Ewood Park and the team’s performances were subject to severe criticism every time they failed to secure all three points. With Samba having now left for Anzhi Makhachkala,
Kean was certain things would improve for the Rovers.
Kean said while speaking to reporters:
“The pivotal point was that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 didn't want to apologise, didn't want to withdraw his transfer request and was very adamant that he wanted to leave and that played a big part of it.
On a positive side, now we know everyone we have in the dressing room wants to be here. We will all be pulling together.”
The manager was not pleased with the fact that Samba had refused to apologize for his behaviour and the fact that he had handed in a transfer request. But by the end of it, Kean wished the player best of luck at his new side.
He continued:
