Steve Kean praises spectacular Benjani Mwaruwari
Steve Kean has hailed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Benjani-Mwaruwari-c7508’s sensational performance against Liverpool on Wednesday.
The striker scored a brace to secure all three points for Blackburn after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martin-Olsson-c24423 had put them ahead in the first half.
Prior to Wednesday’s game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jason-Roberts-c17973 became unavailable due to suspension and injury respectively, forcing the manager to send Benjani into the fray.
The striker has had limited chances of showing his worth, having struggled with injuries throughout the campaign. In Wednesday’s encounter at Ewood Park, Benjani emphatically proved that he is capable of making an impact at the club. The Zimbabwean made the most of the rare opportunity to start, scoring two fantastic goals against Liverpool and putting an end to Blackburn’s dismal record against the Reds. Manager Steve Kean was full of praise for his striker.
He said, “It was not only the finish from Benjani, he showed great awareness and his overall hold-up play was good. He has had a tough time with injury and a few of weeks ago we didn't think he was fit enough to last so we put him gradually into games. But he showed, up until the last 10 minutes when he hit a little bit of a wall, he is certainly ready and he has a big impact to give to the team from the start of the game not just as a sub. He is a great player and has great awareness of where the central defenders are and if you asked the Liverpool centre-halves if they had an easy night against Benjani, they had a real tough evening. That can only be good for us.”
Steve Kean has had a tough time adjusting to life at Ewood Park after the Sam Allardyce fiasco but if his players can keep on churning out performances like this, he doesn’t have too much to worry about. Kean’s next test comes against Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 in the FA Cup.
