Steve Kirby moves to Somerset

Somerset has contracted http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steve-Kirby-c2577 for the 2011 season on a three year contract from their neighbouring county Gloucestershire after the fast bowler requested to be released from his Bristol agreement to trail Division One Championship.
The deal was confirmed by Brian Rose, the Somerset director. Rose said that the deal with the player was done quite hurriedly. While revealing Somerset’s deal with the quick bowler, the director said as soon as the county heard
that Kirby is planning to leave Gloucestershire, the club approached him. Rose further added that he is pleased to say that both the parties soon reached an agreement.
“The deal was done very quickly. As soon as we heard he was leaving Gloucestershire we went in for him and I pleased to say we soon reached agreement."
Kirby still had two more years with Gloucestershire as per his contract with the county but he wants to make a final try to wear the England shirt before 2011 World Cup that is scheduled to be played in the subcontinent with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750,
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 was left behind without hosting rights of the prestigious quadrennial event owing to the devastating law and order situation in the country.
Born on 4th October 1977 in Bury, Great Manchister, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steven-Paul-Kirby-c91340 is an English cricketer who has played for England A and Yorkshire as well besides Gloucestershire.
He made an astounding first class debut as a blistering right arm fast bowler for Yorkshire in 2001. He was a key player of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867’s championship winning squad in his first first-class season. After a fairy tale start to his
career with 47 championship wickets at an average of 20.85, Kirby struggled for form in his next season picking just 37 wickets in 34 matches while the 2004 season could earn him only 31 wickets from 36 appearances. After playing for Yorkshire for almost five
years, Kirby moved to Gloucestershire in 2005. By the end of the 2006 season he had claimed 278 first class scalps in 76 matches at an average of 30.01. Once again after spending almost five years with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gloucestershire-c785, Kirby changed his county and has signed
a three years contract with Somerset.
Kirby feels that he can get the international honours only in the top flight so he decided to move to the Somerset side. Kirby no doubt will be a pivotal part for the bowling attack of Somerset which is presently led by the former
left-arm paceman of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Charl-Willoughby-c1231, but lacks a bigwig with pace.
The 32 years old Kirby hauled the current attack of Somerset and said that he is looking forward to a competition for a place in the bowling department of Somerset.
"Somerset is putting together the nucleus of a side who can be contenders in all forms of cricket and I am looking forward to competing for a place because competition is what sport is all about for me," said the quick bowler while
taking to the official website of Somerset.
He praised the infrastructure of the club as well and said that Somerset has got a very good team. He assured the Somerset fans that he still has plenty of pace with him for the club, “I have plenty of fire left in my belly and
I'm looking forward to the challenge of bowling at Taunton.''
The Somerset Director Brian http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rose-c86842 welcomed Kirby to his club. Brian said the club was planning to strengthen its seam bowling department and Kirby will give the unit somewhat extra pace.
Talking about Steve’s ambition to play for English team, Brian said that it is a plus point about the pacer and it shows that he will be giving his best to the club next season. "He is still ambitious to play for England, which
means he will be giving it everything next season, and he has always been a very spirited cricketer.”
