Steve LeBrun and Christopher DeForest share the lead at the Miccosukee Championship
Steve LeBrun carded a four-under par 67 to share the lead with Christopher DeForest, on day two of the Miccosukee Championship, on Friday, October 12, 2012.
The $600,000 event is being played at the Miccosukee Golf and Country Club in Miami, Florida, featuring some of the best Web.com Tour players.
Starting off on the 10th spot on the leaderboard, LeBrun made an early charge on the leaderboard by birdying three of the first six holes on the back nine of the course.
His start on the front nine was not that impressive, as he bogeyed the first hole and followed that by three par putts in a row.
He then birdied the fifth and the seventh hole with a bogey sandwiched in between them. Another birdie to end the round allowed the American to reach the top of the leaderboard.
According to him, the strong winds on the course did not bother him at all, as they blew in the same direction throughout the day.
He said, "I think it helps being from here when you have wind like this, but one of the keys was that I putted amazing today. My putting hasn't been bad but it was nice to see them dropping because I've been having a lot of them lip out lately”.
DeForest, in the meantime, displayed an average show of the game. He recorded only three birdies against two bogeys for a one-under par second-round score.
Both LeBrun and DeForest settled for a seven-under par overall score, entering the last two rounds on the weekend. Like LeBrun, DeFrost was also comfortable in playing under windy conditions at the venue course.
“I played my college golf at the University of Illinois in the Midwest and the wind howled there so we had a lot of days like today," said DeForest.
Jason Allred, who fired a sparkling seven-under par 64 to lead after the first round, faltered in the second round for a four-over par 75. As a result, he slipped down to the share of the eighth spot on the leaderboard.
Both LeBrun and DeForest currently list on the 77th and the 123rd position, respectively, in the Web.com Tour Money List.
The victory may not elevate them in the top-25 in the list. However, they can still come close to that mark, entering the last two tournaments on the tour this season.
