I would like to take a look at that study if you can tell me where to find it.

  1. Oh man, this is like 18 or 20 years ago on NBC Sports during the Olympics or just after. They had a scientist analyze the different stars from each sport (that wanted to participate). Steve Timmons from USA volleyball team was the VB player they tested because of his size and agility against one of the NBA players. He wasn't the tallest or most skilled but overall had the highest vertical, quickest shuttle run and a few other comparisons. I remember his recreating a back row attack jump and he touch 11' 9" just short of 12'!!!

    Later, around 1994, I think Karch participated in the Super Stars competition and finished second to an NFL guy.

    I don't know how you could find tape of that show unless you checked with NBC studios and archives...I will look too and see if I can find it.

  2. I remember the study, but I could not find it.  I also remember the Super Stars competitions back then.  I remember that the volleyball player always did well.  It always surprised the announcers.  And Karch did finish second in 1985 to Mark Gastineau in a tie breaker.
