Steve Marino aims to return to form at the AT&T National
Steve Marino, who tore his meniscus in October, last year, is hoping to return to his form when he will tee off at the AT&T National on Thursday, June 28, 2012.
Marino had been struggling to get back on the course because of the surgeries he had last year.
The opening month of the 2012 PGA Tour season witnessed him make three starts and his best finish came in the Humana Challenge, in partnership with the Clinton Foundation, where he tied for the 19th position.
Thereafter, he had a torn meniscus again, which forced him out of the scene. He again made a return to the PGA Tour with the Memorial Tournament, presented by Nationwide Insurance.
In all, he played three tournaments this month and missed the cut in each of them. Therefore, he now has a great chance of returning to form with a good performance at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda.
After the practice round on Tuesday, he told the PGA Tour website that he always likes to participate in the event at Congressional, as he has many friends and family members in the area.
Therefore, he is happy and is looking forward to receiving the huge amount of support on the course when he will tee off for the fourth time in the month of June.
“It's always real exciting for me to come back here and play at this tournament, growing up around here,” he said.
“It means a lot to have my friends and my family be able to come out and watch me play. I kind of mark this tournament down on my calendar every year, and it's something I really look forward to”.
Despite the poor performances in the recent past, Marino is confident to record a good score in the upcoming week.
“I expect to go out there and hopefully play well,” he said. “I've knocked most of the rust off, and I'm really looking forward to it and excited about the week. I think I just need to get one solid round under my belt and then I think I can start rolling
a little bit”.
