Steve McNamara cautions English side about France - Rugby League
While talking to reporters on Thursday, October 20, English coach, Steve McNamara, cautioned his players to be prepared for the French side, who are expected to shine against his side when they meet in Avignon on Friday.
Recently, the French side received an embarrassing 38-18 defeat against England Knights at Leigh last Saturday but McNamara has dtill put his side on high alert.
While talking about home field advantage for the French in Friday’s clash, the coach said, "They're on home soil in front of a big crowd and, having had a run-out, I'm sure they are going to be a whole lot better than they were last week. We want that to
be the case. We want the toughest game possible for us to get us ready for what is going to be a tough tournament."
English side has been preparing hard for the upcoming Four Nations Series for which they had been training for a week at Loughborough University. The coach checked with his team on Thursady morning for Avigon from East Midlands Airport.
While talking about how well his side has been working towards the fast approaching Four Nations, McNamara added, “Our opposed sessions against the Knights have been something we've been looking to introduce and certainly increased our chances of playing
better in this game. Loughborough has been an outstanding facility and the Knights have been great for us."
He went on and added that his side has prepared really well and to assess his side’s training, McNamara is keen to put his team through this week’s clash against French side.
The seven players of McNamara’s 24-man outfit, who were not selected for the Friday’s clash also joined the remaining outfit at the airport. However, the coach also confirmed that he still has to finalise his pick for the inaugural match of the series against
Wales at Leigh Sports Village on Saturday week.
He further clarified that the team he is heading out with is only for this week, there may or may not be any changes in the squad after Friday’s clash depending on the strength of their opposition.
