Steve Nash, Al Jefferson - NBA stars in need of a support option: NBA Feature
(Part 3)
Steve Nash:
So far, Steve Nash of Phoenix Suns has spent almost 15 years in the National Basketball Association but his hunger to play at the highest level still seems not fulfilled. He is certainly considered one of the very best basketball
players in the league who has achieved many awards in his long career. He made his NBA debut in 1996 when the Phoenix Suns drafted him 15th overall in the first round and started to perform even in his rookie season.
Though, Nash is hugely experienced and played for two different teams in the league but he still could not win any NBA title with any of those teams. Wherever he played, he could not find any sidekick for his individual tremendous
talent who will carry forward the offence burden with him. During his Dallas Mavericks’ days, Nowitzki was there, but even his collaboration was not good enough to win a title. Later, Nash joined the Suns again in 2004 and still playing in this franchise.
He is still looking for an NBA title that.
Though, no one objected on his individual tremendous performance that is still increasing in a positive manner, but without the championship ring, he never seemed pleased. Last season, he averaged 14.7 points, 3.50 rebounds and
11.4 assists per game in total 75 games but no other Suns’ player did any extra effort to improve their winning record.
The next NBA season will be a tough one as every team is preparing hard to clinch the Larry O’ Brien trophy. The Suns’ management should also pay attention towards its current roster that is not capable enough to provide their
team a total stability. The Suns’ management should also consider the fact of providing a good supporting player to Nash who is carrying the offence burden on his own shoulders from many years.
Al Jefferson:
The Utah Jazz’s forward Al Jefferson has almost spent seven years in the league. He is the one in the Jazz’s roster who extremely needs a sidekick for a better look Jazz’s side next season. He had a very good relationship with
his former teammate Deron Williams but as soon as he left the Jazz, the entire team had to suffer. Along with Williams, Jefferson made a tremendous combination that proved lethal for every opponent team. His extraordinary speed and Williams’ quick scoring
abilities shattered many exemplary defences.
Since Williams has joined the New Jersey Nets, Jefferson’s game started to decline. He could not push harder late in the season and failed to help his team reach the playoffs. Last season, he averaged 18.6 points, 9.70 rebounds
and 1.8 assists per game.
Currently the Jazz has only one potential player who can work as sidekick for Jefferson is Paul Millsap. But he needs some more playing time to reach that level where he can play well alongside with Jefferson. Jefferson, who has
also played for two other teams in the NBA, is extremely talented player and Jazz’s management should consider bringing some good players for his support.
