Steve Nash appears on Tonight Show with Jay Leno – NBA News
One of the perks and privileges of being a Los Angeles Lakers player in the NBA is that you get to live as close to Hollywood as possible, which earns you a few television appearances, if nothing else. And Steve Nash is quickly
getting the thick of things as he settles into his new home and new life.
Nash was on the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on Tuesday night, where he talked to the comedian and anchor host about a variety of topics, including parting ways with the Phoenix Suns, Kobe Bryant and being in Los Angeles.
Leno then asked Nash if he had ever been booed by his home crowd, and Nash said that he had once, while playing for the Dallas Mavericks.
“I have, actually, once. When I was in Dallas, my third year in the league. There was this one game where we were playing the Rockets, and they had Charles Barkley, and it was sold out. And at one point, I started to get booed
every time I touched the ball. At home. And I'm the point guard, so I have the ball ... on a number of occasions, if you haven't watched basketball. It was one of those moments where you're like, 'I can't believe this is happening to me.”,” said Nash while
recalling.
Nash did have a rough first season with the Mavericks when he was traded to them in the 1999 season, but quickly bounced back after that as he, along with Dirk Nowitzki and Michael Finley, put Dallas on the NBA map and made then
regular playoff contenders. The one guard also polished his point guard skills to the point where he became one of the best in the league and earned two MVP honours in the process with the Phoenix Suns.
Nash continued the story, telling that his brother was in town from England and watching him play for the first time sitting in the crowd. And he told Leno the embarrassment he felt when his brother couldn’t stop laughing at the
treatment the fans were giving.
Those days, however, are long gone and Nash is now regarded as one of the best point guards to ever play the game and a definite Hall of Famer. He is about to embark on a season with the Lakers, who have a real chance of winning
an NBA title come June.
