The Los Angeles Lakers point guard undergoes his second consecutive full practise, without discomfort, but still considers Christmas as the likely return date.....
On Friday, Steve Nash of Los Angeles Lakers, had his second consecutive unlimited practise, raising speculation the iconic point guard could make a return in tonight’s game against the Golden State Warriors.
Nash however seemed unsure after the practise;
"There's a chance I play (Saturday)," Nash said of the possibility of his returning against Golden State Warriors. "But I think Christmas, for sure."
Nash’s practises have gone pretty well, and so far, there hasn’t been any complication which can stop him from making a quick return;
"Surprisingly, I felt better than I thought, but there's still obviously some growing pains to get through," he said.
The return of Nash will be a big boost to Mike D’Antoni, the Los Angeles Lakers coach, who has been in the firing lane ever since he took over.
Nash knows Mike’s system at the tip of his fingers and can really inject life into a presently stale looking Lakers offense which has been carried by the brilliance of one Kobe Bryant, who has had 7 consecutive 30 or more points
game entering tonight showdown. It will also provide that Lakers with an additional on court leader and an offensive outlet should the side need it.
"I think he gives us some excitement," said Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni, who coached Nash for five seasons in Phoenix. "We know we'll have some problems to work out, you always do, but to have a two-time MVP run your thing ... he's
unbelievable, he's been running it forever and this is what you brought him here for and now, hopefully, he'll have a chance to do it."
Good prospects apart, the Lakers will have to be very mindful about the usage of Nash. They will have to use him sparingly to start with, and will need to give him enough time to gel in with a team, which is virtually alien to
him. To expect that Nash will just return and make every wrong right, will be downright foolish.
