Steve Nash might have one more reason for joining Los Angeles Lakers – NBA News
Steve Nash was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers this week in a sign and trade deal with the Phoenix Suns. The deal catapulted the Lakers to championship contention instantly as the NBA watched in amazement as the two best players in the past decade joined
together to form the most formidable back court combination in basketball at present.
Nash had requested to be traded to the Lakers and although the Suns and Lakers had been rivals in the Western Conference over the past few years, the Suns management gave in to Nash’s wishes as a testament to all the hard work and dedication he had put into
the Suns franchise. Nash wanted to move to Los Angeles because it allowed him to stay close to his family who resides in Phoenix and because he thought he had the best chance of winning a championship by joining the Lakers. Also was the incentive of earning
$27 million over a period of three years.
However, it has recently been learnt that Nash might have had one more reason for choosing to move to Los Angeles. And that is his production company. Nash owns a production company with his cousin called Meathawk, and plans on expanding it after he retires.
Being a player of the Los Angeles Lakers will surely get Nash in touch with some of the finest producers, directors and actors in Hollywood. The Hollywood Reporter did a story on Nash Friday and said:
“The flashy point guard, who was traded to the Lakers on Wednesday after eight years with the Phoenix Suns runs a production company, Meathawk, with his cousin, Ezra Holland.
Their first feature, Into the Wind — about the life of Terry Fox, an amputee who attempted to run across Canada for cancer research in 1980 — debuted at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival and aired as part of ESPN’s 30 for 30 documentary series.”
One can find more celebrity in one Lakers game as compared to the whole of Canada, where Nash was thinking of moving to play for the Toronto Raptors. Whether he considered it while making his decision or not, but the fact remains that playing for the Los
Angeles Lakers will allow Nash to interact with many celebrities from Hollywood, which can come handy if he decides to grow his company after he retires from the NBA.
