The star Los Angeles Lakers point guard practiced on Monday; hopeful to make a return before the years ends….
Steve Nash has been out of the Los Angeles Lakers lineup since Oct.31, after suffering a fibula fracture in his left leg. In his absence, the star studded Lakers’ lineup got brutally exposed and even after last two consecutive wins, the much vaunted team is sitting at the 12th position in the Western Conference, with an 11-14 record.
With Nash out, the Lakers have badly missed a playmaker which is critical for head coach Mike D’Antoni’s system. Help however could be on the way.
Nash started running recently and the medical staff is now waiting on how the guard’s body responds to the increased physical activity. If everything goes well, Nash could be in the Lakers playing lineup on Christmas. The player sounded excited about his progress, although there is still some soreness;
"It's starting to get exciting just because I'm able to do some things," Nash said. "The majority of the last six weeks have been pretty inactive. So it's nice to be able to get out there with the guys and just see some light at the end of the tunnel.
"It's definitely sore and it's definitely going to be a process -- not just to get back to complete health but also to get back into shape. But I have to take what I can get. To be on the court sweating and playing and just working on my game a bit is important to me."
Nash’s return can just be the recipe; the Lakers require to live up to their billing. Most of their starting lineup has been performing so far in the season, but there are some elements in the team which are not being utilized properly. With Nash’s vision and playmaking skills, Mike D can make sure that they do. His return will also give the Lakers that additional leader on the court and will also go a long for stretching the court for the likes of Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard, not to mention a certain Pau Gasol.
