Steve Nash says he can move to New York Knicks if given the right offer – NBA Update
With the free agency just around the corner there are a lot of class players making their moves.
One of the best player available in this year`s free agency would be none other than, the two time MVP Steve Nash.
Nash is one of the best point guards the league has ever produced and with a championship still missing in his resume, the veteran swingman has clearly indicated that Phoenix would have to make some massive improvements in the
roster; otherwise he will be joining a genuine championship contender.
For Nash, one such team is New York Knicks and making a promotional appearance in Manhattan yesterday, he opened the door for his possible arrival at the Big Apple.
Nash said that the Knicks are genuine title contenders and given that the right offer comes his way, he would definitely consider.
“The Knicks are a great franchise and I live in New York City (each summer), so I’d definitely consider them if they were interested.”
“I want to wait and see what’s actually on the table,” Nash added. “I’m open and excited. I’m looking at every possibility right now. It sounds like there are a number of teams that are interested.”
From the Knicks point of view this could be the best way of solving out their point guard problems.
Jeremy Lin, who lit up the franchise midway during last season, got injured late in it and the Knicks suffered in the playoffs. To make matters worse, Lin will also be a free agent in the summer and there is not guarantee to whether
he would be rejoining the team.
Other options available to the Knicks at the guard position also suffered career threatening injuries during the playoffs. Iman Shumpert suffered a torn ACL in the first game against Miami Heat while reserve point guard Baron Davis
is rehabbing from a severe knee injury suffered in the same series, one which is going to possibly keep him out for the whole of next season.
If Nash comes to New York, it can go a long way in increasing the productivity and effectiveness of Amar’e Stoudemire.
Nash and Stoudemire have previous experience of playing together when they were a part of the Phoenix Suns. In that span, the duo helped Phoenix become playoff contenders for several years. Ever since Stoudemire arrived in New
York, his numbers have dropped, because the Knicks haven’t had a point guard who can feed Stoudemire down low in the post on a regular basis. The power forward had openly rooted for Nash after the Knicks bowed of the playoffs nearly one and a half month back,
and Stoudemire would be hoping that the latest materializes.
