Steve Nash states desire to stay put at the Phoenix Suns – NBA Update
NBA super star Steve Nash has been linked with a move away from the Phoenix Suns since even before the season ended, but in his most recent public remarks, Nash revealed he had no desire to disembark from Phoenix.
Nash was speaking in the wake of severe speculation from fans and remarks by analysts that the fading star should consider a move away in order to attain the as yet elusive NBA World Championship.  Steve Nash is considered perhaps
the best point guard the NBA has seen since the legendary John Stockton and the player’s career has been filled with individual accolades.
However, despite getting close on a few occasions, the storied guard has failed to get the crown jewel, an NBA Championship ring. Nash admitted that the ring was something he yearned for, but said that he wanted to get it with
his current team,
“Every player wants the ring. We were very close to it many times. Changing teams may be away. But I don’t think I will join another team; I prefer to stay in Phoenix. Hopefully, we can go further next season,” said Nash.
Steve has been on a tour of China for some charity work. With the increasing number of NBA players looking to make a move abroad in light of the current lockout, it was inevitable that Steve would get asked about his thoughts on
the subject.
Nash however did not display an inclination to playing overseas, and stated that he wanted to spend his free time with his family,
“Like I said before, if I did not have three daughters to take care of I would like to come and play in the (Chinese Basketball Association)” Nash said during a press conference on Monday in Shanghai.
“I know I have got a lot of diehard fans here, it’s incredible. The basketball league here is also awesome. It’s definitely a good league for all players worldwide. But I would like to stay with my family during the holidays,”
Steve Nash first gained prominence as a member of the Dallas Mavericks side that also featured current NBA Finals MVP Dirk Nowitzki. Nash, who hails from Canada, soon formed a great partnership with the German giant on the court
and a great friendship off it.
Nash moved to the Phoenix Suns soon after, with Nowitzki continuing to play for the Mavericks. Nash has achieved legend status with the Suns and is the centrepiece of any plans that the franchise puts together. However, with Nowitzki
and fellow veterans Shawn Marion, another former teammate of Steve Nash, and Jason Kidd, his long time rival for the crown of best point guard, having now won a championship, there is an onus on Steve to move somewhere he can truly be competitive.
