Steve Nash willing to consider what the New York Knicks have to offer – NBA News
The theory of Steve Nash joining the New York Knicks might just become a reality.

The veteran point guard of the Phoenix Suns is a free agent this summer and has said that he would now love to move to a championship contending team as he remains in hunt for his maiden championship ring.

The New York Knicks were speculated to be interested in the prospective free agent, but commentators dismissed the option as not being in Nash’s favour. However, the swingman has given some consideration to the
thought and recently said that he will talk to the franchise about what they have to offer him.
During a promotional appearance in Manhattan, Nash said:
“The Knicks are a great franchise and I live in New York City (each summer), so I’d definitely consider them if they were interested.”
The comments made by Nash must have grabbed the attention of the Knicks management as they prepare to go into free agency. However, the Knicks are already tight on cap space and will have to offer most or all
of their mid level exception of $5 million to keep point guard Jeremy Lin with them. They could get lucky if an arbitration hearing on Bird’s rights goes in their favour, in which case they would not have to offer Lin the mid level exception.

On the other hand, it is difficult to imagine Nash playing with the Knicks in their current form. They already have a young point guard who they are looking to build for the future. They have back up point guards
in Baron Davis and Mike Bibby. And the Knicks offense runs through Carmelo Anthony. Nash will find it difficult to play his style of game with that roster.
Being a free agent, Nash will have options and when one looks at the options, New York does not look like it has a good chance of landing Nash.

If Nash is willing to take a steep pay cut to win a championship, he could go to the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls or the L.A Lakers who are much closer to winning a championship than the New York Knicks. The addition
of Nash to any of these teams would catapult them to championship contention instantly. On the other hand, if Nash wants to make money, he could go to the Indiana Pacers or stay in Phoenix.
Free agency hits on the 1st of July so there are only a few days before negotiations start about player signings and new contracts. Nash is sure to get a great deal of attention being one of the top
stars in this year’s free agency class along with New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams. The legendary one guard will need to set his priorities and objectives before he can sign a deal with any team.
