The Los Angeles Lakers point guard is still not able to jog and a return against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday seems highly improbable
"I can't jog yet so ... I don't think so,"
That was the response which the Los Angeles Lakers star point guard gave when asked whether he would be able to return to Tuesday’s game against the Indiana Pacers.
Nash underwent a team check up on Friday, and revealed that he has still not been able to jog pain free.
"Hopefully it's something that resolves soon," He added. "Nobody really knows because it's not like tissue or bone. It's painful. It's under control right now, but it's still very sensitive so it can flare up. We just need to let
the nerves settle down."
The All-Star guard who was one of the two blockbusters signings – the other being Dwight Howard - made by the Lakers this summer, fractured his left foot after he bumped into Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard in a game
on Oct 31. Since then, many probable dates have been set for his return to action, but Nash continues to rehab till date.
The two times MVP has not been allowed to shoot and so far he is only doing light conditioning and lifting weights. Nash also revealed that he performed some stationary workouts about a week back, but the pain aggravated;
"It kind of flared up so we kind of cut back on that," he said. "It wasn't anything bad; it was more that I just realized I'm not really ready for that."
Mike D’Antoni, the new Lakers coach, on the other hand seemed anxious to get his ace playmaker back into the starting lineup. Nash and Mike formed a formidable partnership at Phoenix Suns few years back, and now that D’Antoni has
been appointed the head coach at the Lakers, he has made it clear that his offensive system will run through Nash.
For now though, Nash’s return will have to wait and D’Antoni has to manage with the resources at hand. Kobe Bryant did a lot of ball distribution in the last game against the Dallas Mavericks last night, and it is expected that
Steve Blake might return to the lineup on Tuesday, should he be able to clear the fitness tests. In the absence of both the Steves, rookie Darius Morris and veteran Chris Duhon have been switching at point.
