Steve Ott may be turnaround factor for Buffalo Sabres next season -NHL Update
Steve Ott is one of the best known centre players in the league and recently acquiring the player from Dallas Stars has really raised the value of Buffalo Sabres by manifolds.
Not making the playoffs after a complete change in owner ship as Pennsylvanian billionaire, Terry Pegula, took over and just injected hum amounts of money into the franchise, was certainly a disappointment and embarrassment to fans everywhere.
This offseason, Sabres decided to take things slow and make quality moves instead of focusing on quantity and just might have picked up enough talent to make them one of the best in the National Hockey League (NHL) once again.
Ott was brought on board to Buffalo Sabres and definitely has a lot of interests vested in him by the Buffalo management and thousands of fans everywhere.
"I hope I can bring that attitude," Ott said after he was acquired by Buffalo. "I want to bring my consistency of being hard to play against every single night. I feel I've done that since the start of my career, and I feel I have a ton of game left. I haven't
even reached part of my peak yet."
He brings some of the best plays when it comes to physicality as he ranked fourth in the NHL last hockey year with 278 hits in just 74 games played.
"It's something I pride myself in, being at the top of leading the League in hits every single year playing a physical, hard, complete style of game," Ott added. "That's what I want to bring, I'm not changing my style. That's something I want to do, I want
to be as consistent as possible, playing a mix of hard hockey with some skill set along with it."
Buffalo also has ample time to test the player and see how he adjusts with the club as Steve Ott has two years left on his four-year contract worth a total of 4-years.
His annual salary cap hit for the next two seasons is $3.2 million. Last season, Steve Ott had 39 points (11 goals 28 assists) in 74 games played.
