Steve Rhodes backs his side to complete the double over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gloucestershire-c785 tonight – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steven-John-Rhodes-c91315, is optimistic about his side winning the Friends Life T20 return-leg match against Gloucestershire, to be played at the latter’s backyard, County Ground, Bristol, on Thursday, July 5, 2012.
The Worcestershire Royals had won last month’s home game of the 2012 Flt20 competition against Gloucestershire quite comfortably, handing the Gladiators a 47-run defeat at New Road, and Rhodes is hopeful his side would emulate that performance when the two
sides clash again tonight.
He however, cautioned against complacency and said that they will play to their potential to complete a double over their local rivals.
“Gloucestershire will be tough opposition, but we have to take heart from the fact we are playing full of confidence at the moment,” said Royals’ director of cricket.
“They played well to beat us in the Clydesdale Bank 40 game earlier in the season, but then we won the FL t20 game at New Road recently,” he added further.
Worcestershire’s previous Flt20 match, against Glamorgan, at the latter’s home ground on Tuesday, was abandoned without a ball bowled due to persistent rains.  Weather gods also hampered Royals’ training plans this week, leaving Rhodes frustrated.
“We are going to try and get twice as many points as we did at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glamorgan-c784 by trying to actually get out on the pitch. Practice yesterday was equally frustrating as we were on and off the field all day,” said Steve Rhodes.
Royals’ second XI also suffered the pain of rain as the first two days of their Championship match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nottinghamshire-c826 at Kidderminster were washed out.
Rhodes also hinted at fielding an unchanged squad on Thursday night, baring injuries.
Worcestershire Royals currently top the Midlands/Wales/West Group points table with ten points. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daryl-Mitchell-c52533 led side has won four of their seven matches played so far, and have lost only one, while two games were washed out due to bad weather.
On the other side of the coin, Gloucestershire find themselves fourth on the table in a group of six, and will be looking to regain some of the lost pride with a win at home tonight.
