Steve Schmuhl and Cody Miller win Men’s 200yard IM – Indiana vs. Virginia vs. Penn State Tri Meet
Steve T Schmuhl and Cody E Miller of Hoosiers ended in a draw for gold medal of the Men’s 200yard Individual Medley (IM) at the 2012 Indiana vs. Virginia vs. Penn State Tri Meet in Bloomington, Indiana on Friday, November 16.
Both swimmers lived up to the expectations of their supporters by dominating the playoff of the discipline. With their impeccable efforts in the eight-lap discipline, they put on a great show for the arena and reached the wall with identical timings for
the crown.
Schmuhl dominated the first half of the race but failed to continue his supremacy in the second half and tapped the wall with the same timing of 1 minute and 49.28 seconds for gold medal.
The duo of champions was trailed by Nic Montes de Oca of Virginia-VA, who was 0.95 seconds slower and tapped the wall for third position by producing a time of 1 minute and 50.23 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Matt C Salig of Penn State-MA, who remained only 0.30 seconds apart and occupied fourth fastest spot of the race by submitting a nice effort of 1 minute and 50.53 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was secured by Eric M Ress of Hoosiers, who stayed almost 0.80 seconds away from upsetting his former finisher and touched the wall with a wonderful effort of 1 minute and 51.26 seconds.
Ress was followed by David M Ingraham of Virginia-VA, who was just 0.08 seconds slower form his foregoing finisher and ended his race in a time of 1 minute and 51.34 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh spot of the event was obtained by Taylor M Grey of Virginia-VA, who stayed just 0.02 seconds apart and ended his swim in a time of 1 minute and 51.36 seconds.
Grey was trailed by Nate r Savoy of Penn State-MA, who concluded his swim in eighth place by producing a time of 1 minute and 51.92 seconds.
In addition, Schmuhl was happy with his top finish in the event and stressed that he would try to achieve the same in future events.
