Steve Waugh lavishes praise on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brett-Lee-c48419 -  Cricket News Update
The former and current Australian players on Friday paid rich tributes to the outgoing veteran pacer Brett Lee, after he announced retirement from international cricket today, July 13, 2012, bringing to an end a 13-year-long international career, which saw
him claiming 310 Test and 380 ODI wickets.
Former Australian captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stephen-Rodger-Waugh-c91216, hailed the New South Welshman not only for the longevity of his career but also for his resilience and ability to bounce back from numerous career threatening injuries.
“Brett went at 100 per cent for his whole career which is incredible,” said Waugh, who was the captain when the departing ace pacer debuted in December 2009.
“The resilience that he showed was quite amazing and I really take my hat off for him that even in his last game of cricket at age 34 or 35 he was still bowling 100 per cent flat out and never pulled back at all,” he added further.
Generally the fast bowlers, after reaching the age of 30, cut down their pace to 80 per cent, but Lee not only stretched his career till 35, but also kept bowling at 100 per cent pace even in his last days, before retiring.
Waugh feels by bowling consistently at extremely fast speed even during his last series, against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 earlier this month, the veteran pacer has raised the bar for fast bowlers in the future.
“I think he’s had an outstanding career and in a lot of ways he has raised the bar for quick bowlers in the future,” said Waugh, who played 168 Tests and 325 One Day Internationals for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, between 1985 and 2004. “He always bowled to the max and very
few bowlers in the history of the game have done that,” he added further.
With 380 ODI scalps from 221 game, Brett Lee departs as the joint leading wicket taker with legendary pace bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, but the
calf injury he had sustained last week in England, forced him to call it off early.
