Steve Waugh not interested in coaching Australia
Former Australian captain Steve Waugh has denied speculations of a coaching role for Australia.
After the thumping Ashes defeat at the hands of the English team, many cricket pundits hinted at Waugh’s coaching role for the national side.
Waugh said that he will not be looking for a full job as the team’s coach but definitely help rebuild the team following its severe dip in form in the recent past. He further said that he was keen to help his team to be number one again.
Talking to the Australian media, Waugh said, “I love Australian cricket, I want to see it be successful but my value is more of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Mentor-c41238. I'm very busy with my philanthropic work and business and family and you can't do everything.”
The legendary Australian skipper was part of the Australian team that saw many mixed performances in the nineties but eventually the team was the most dominant amongst all other countries under the leadership of Waugh.
He stated, “The value I can add is I've seen http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 play in an era when we were struggling through to a successful era so I can see the ups and downs and maybe know some of the shortcuts.”
Former World Cup winning captain also said that he has been in contact with few of the Australian players to discuss their performances.
Waugh is considered as one of the best leaders in the history of cricket. He was mentally very strong and that showed in the 1999 World Cup when Australia were struggling for form during the tournament but Waugh inspired his team with his brilliance and
the team bounced back to lift the trophy.
The Australian team may have seen a serious dip in form but that can also be a cause of many senior players retiring from national duty. When Waugh retired, he had left a very strong Australian team but things are different now.
The Australian fans will be hoping that Waugh inspires and motivates the team just as he used to do when he was the captain of the team. The team is in a great need of some motivational factor that can lift their confidence for the upcoming cricket World
Cup.
