Michael Clarke will miss Friday’s tri-series match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DA-Warner-c1301 in his absence, the Australian selectors appointed former skipper Ricky Ponting
as the stand in captain for the clash against the Lankans, to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on February 17, 2012.
Steve Waugh, who is a member of the Argus Review panel, said that Ponting is undoubtedly capable of leading the side but said that the future of the Kangaroos is in the hands of Warner and urged the selectors to express confidence
in him.
"http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ricardo-Gouveia-c84824 will do it blindfolded, but the future is probably Dave Warner so I'm surprised they didn't go to Warner and go to the future," said Waugh speaking to media reporters in Sydney on Tuesday.
"It's only a temporary thing, you put Dave Warner in there as vice- captain … I assume they think he is leadership material. If he's vice-captain why can't he captain the side as well? Maybe they think Dave's not quite ready but why
is he vice-captain? It doesn't make sense to me," he added further.

captain the game has ever seen. He led Australia in 228 One Day Internationals, winning 164 matches while losing only 50.
But Waugh wants the Australian selectors to put the past laurels behind them and move on to secure the future of the game.
Clarke sustained a grade one hamstring injury during http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s 4-wicket loss to India at Adelaide last Sunday and is likely to return ahead of Sunday’s CB series match against India at Brisbane.
Australia currently leads the Commonwealth Bank series points table with nine points from three matches. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 is second, trailing the hosts by just one point while the Lankans are yet to open their account.
