Steve Waugh urges Pat Cummins no to play IPL – Cricket News Update
Australia’s former legendary skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Iftikhar-Ali-Khan-Pataudi-Nawab-of-c64075 Cummins, to prefer his physical health and national commitments over the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL).
Waugh is of the view that Cummins may lose his stamina, form and fitness by playing lengthy league tournaments that are held every year. According to him, the rising star should pay attention to his health first and then serve his national team which has
conferred the baggy green on him in such an early age.
Talking to the media, the ex-captain said, “The priority has got to be playing for Australia, the baggy green is number one and everything else slots in underneath that. Obviously there's money to be made from the IPL, but I think as a young guy with his
potential and his star quality, he's going to make a lot of money out of the game of cricket.”
Waugh has asked the senior Australian players and Cricket Australia (CA) to guide the youngster properly so that he advances his career smoothly and successfully.
He further told, “I think they [CA] should [be talking to him about joining the IPL]. The senior players, people in like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746
and I'm sure they'll be in his ear."
After getting the green cap during the Aussies’ recently-concluded tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, Cummins could play just one Test which he ended up as ‘Man of the Match’ by grabbing a 7-wicket haul. For a bone stress injury in his foot, he is not playing the ongoing
2-Test home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
Impressed by Cummins’ fabulous bowling show, the IPL organisers have offered him $1 million for playing the next edition of the tournament. His manager, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Neil-Donald-Maxwell-c79088, has also confirmed that the pacer intends to opt for IPL. However, no official statement
has come in this regard.
The 18-year-old Sydney-born bowler is being dubbed as a precious asset for the Kangaroos despite the fact that he has played just 1 Test, 3 ODI and 2 T20I games so far.
