Steven Burridge seeking further success by entering Captain Obvious in the Group 3, Al Shindagha Sprint on 3rd February at Meydan   
The Singapore based trainer Steven Burridge is extending his representation to a sixth horse for the 2012 Dubai World Cup Carnival by sending, Captain Obvious, for the Group 3, Al Shindagha Sprint sponsored by Gulf News on 3rd February at the Meydan.
The seven-year-old grey gelding of Verglas out of Shathor, Captain Obvious is owned by Milton Stable, and was bred by Alwyn Park.
On 16th October 2011, Captain Obvious lost the Group 3, Saas Fee Stakes at Kranji which was raced over seven furlongs. He then went on for a three race win streak that started off with winning the Kranji Stakes on 28th October, 2011 at Kranji which was over the track distance of seven furlongs. He was the 12 to 5 favourite for the race.
Captain Obvious then won the Kranji Stakes at Kranji which was held over a distance of five and a half furlongs, and had Captain Obvious entered as the evening’s favourite. Steven Burridge’s other entry in the race, Apache Crown was third and the runner up’s position was secured by Cliff Brown trained Merchant. This turned out to be the final race for the, 2011 season.
Captain Obvious did not wait for the second start of the new season for posting a victory as he won the Al Naboodah Construction Group Conditions race on 20thJanuary 2012. The 7 to 2 favourite of the race went through the six furlong track first among the lot of eleven.
Second in line was David Barron trained, Hitchens, who was followed by Iver Bridge Lad conditioned by John Ryan.
Two wins from the previous season attached to the seasonal debut victory entitled Captain Obvious for a hat-trick, while the trainer himself has won at three instances during the Carnival.
Steven Burridge won with Captain Obvious on 20thJanuary, after that on 21st January, he won a seven furlong handicap with, Ip Man, and most recently on 26th January, Dark Matter won a handicap over the same distance for his trainer.
The rest of the lineup for the Group 3, Al Shindagha Sprint that will be raced over six furlongs on 3rd February includes Jimmy Styles, Alo Pura, Krypton Factor, Addictive Dream, Dohasa, Mujaazef, Angel’s Pursuit, Sir Reginald, Hitchens, Critical Moment, Rerouted, Seachantach and Hajoum.
