Lancashire all-rounder Steven Croft has set his sights on reaching the final of the ongoing Clydesdale Bank 40 for two reasons – glory for the club, and a spot in England’s final 15-man squad for the upcoming http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 this September.
“The CB40 competition is a big thing for me now,” Croft said. “Myself and the team are frustrated that we are not in the quarter-finals of the Twenty20.”

Trafford in Manchester today on July 30, and a victory could propel them to the semi-finals of the tournament.
The prospect of a spot in the semis affords Lancashire the chance to reach a Lord’s final – a feat they have been unable to accomplish since 2006.
In addition to the club’s progress, however, Croft is also looking at a spot in the tournament finals for personal benefit.
A veteran of 83 T20s (with 1867 runs to his credit) and 95 list-A matches (with 2471 runs to his name), the all-rounder was named in England’s 30-man provisional squad for the ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka this September.
This marks the first time he has been named in the national squad, an opportunity which comes after a string of impressive performances. In addition to his superb form throughout the Friends Life t20 tournament, Croft is also Lancashire’s top run-scorer
in the CB40 this season, with an average of 63.
However, with a chance in the Friends Life t20 quarter-finals out of the club's grasp, the CB40 competition is the 27-year-old's only chance at impressing national selectors and making the final cut for the 15-man squad.
“Hopefully I can get runs in the CB40 and the County Championship to keep my name out there and in the minds of the selectors,” he said. “I don’t know what my chances are of making the last 15. All I can do is keep myself fit and keep scoring runs.”
