Steven Finn agrees on a short-term deal with Otago Volts – Cricket News Update
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has recently announced that the national team’s fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Otago-c829 Volts, and will be joining the Kiwi domestic squad on a one month
basis, soon after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 concludes its proceeding tour of India.
According to reports, Finn is scheduled to join Otago next month, where the English quick will feature for the side in the opening Plunket Shield fixture against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Canterbury-c775 in Rangiora on November 7, 2011, followed by three more matches.
“'I am delighted to be joining Otago Volts for four first-class games at the end of our one-day series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750,” Finn said.
“I felt it was crucial to get some four-day cricket under my belt prior to hopefully getting selected for England’s series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755. Therefore, when the opportunity to play in New Zealand came up, I jumped at the chance to join the Volts”.
Finn’s minor stint with the Kiwi outfit will last until December 4, 2011, after which the player will presumably join his national side for their January’s assignment against Pakistan, in UAE.
The 22-year-old speedster is currently engaged with England in their away series in India, where the Poms have already faced two opening defeats at the 5-match, One Day International (ODI) competition.
As for Finn’s stint with the side, the pacer has managed to bag a single wicket; and that during the series opener in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hyderabad-c792, on October 14, 2011.
The English, however, stated that he now looks forward to his commitment with Otago, but more importantly having a chance to work under Coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vaughn-Francis-Johnson-c94960.
On the other hand, Johnson expressed his delight for having Finn on board, and stated that the player’s experience, both on and off the field, will be beneficial for Otago.
The Coach further added that Finn’s inclusion will also be beneficial for the young pacers on the squad.
“The management group felt with what Finn brings on and off the field it was an opportunity we needed to grab with both hands,” stated Johnson.
