Steven Finn could miss Nagpur Test – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 after suffering a back injury ahead of the all important clash at Nagpur.
The pacer felt some soreness during the third Test win at Kolkata, and scans revealed a minor disc injury in his lower back. He was not able to train on Wednesday, which has raised doubts over his inclusion.
Finn had recently returned to the side following a thigh strain which curtailed his involvement in the opening two Tests. He sustained the injury during a warm-up match, and management advised him rest. He however, remained with the Test group, and further took part in the England Performance squad to prove his fitness for the Kolkata bout.
He replaced the out of form vice-captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 in the first innings before striking three times in the second innings as England completed an easy seven-wicket victory.
His injury has again hindered the balance of the side, after Broad was ruled out of the upcoming clash following the recurrence of a heel injury. It has been a disappointing series for the T20 captain, who has failed to take a wicket on the tour so far.
"It's the nature of sport, isn't it? Some people have good tours and some people don't. Unfortunately, more down to niggles and illnesses, Broady hasn't quite managed to get into the tour. It's frustrating for him and disappointing for us as a side. But we all know the class of Broady, and he'll be back," Cook said.
With Broad out, and Finn a major doubt, it is likely that either http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TT-Bresnan-c2711 or Stuart Meaker could make the playing XI at Nagpur.
Bresnan was part of a three-man pace attack in Ahmedabad but struggled to make any impact. He however, remains in pole position to come in due to his added experience. Meaker has yet to get a game, but earned the praise of his skipper during his performances in the warm-up games in the lead up to the Test series.
The final Test starts tomorrow and a win for England will see them achieve a series victory in India for the first time since 1984.
