Steven Finn prefers accuracy over pace – Cricket News Update
England’s fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ST-Finn-c2566, is off the opinion that a bowler should concentrate more on the line and length rather than focussing on the pace of a delivery because it is the accuracy or the movement of the ball which gets the batsman out.
Finn is currently in India, where he is taking part in the One Day International (ODI) series for his country. The fast bowler bowled with a lot of pace in the second ODI against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 and touched 94 Miles Per Hour (MPH). However, he failed to pick
up a single scalp after giving away 50 runs in his nine overs.
This is the reason why Finn believes that he would be more happy if he picks up wickets for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 rather than just recording high speeds in the speed gun.
The fast bowler revealed that a number of people, including his mother, communicated to him that he has been bowling very fast. Being a fast bowler, it naturally gives him pleasure but the real deal is to contribute towards the team’s cause.
Finn said, “A couple of people have come up to me and said, ‘Cor, you’re bowling at 94mph. My mum rang me and said ‘You were bowling at 94mph yesterday’. It was great. But it’s not something that is occupying my mind. If I can bowl at 94mph consistently,
then great.”
The 22-year-old fast bowler has so far played 12 Test matches and eight ODIs for his country, in which he has taken 50 and eight scalps respectively.
At the present moment, there are very few fast bowlers in international cricket, who can cross 90 MPH. Since the retirement of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SW-Tait-c2616 can be rated as out and out fast bowlers.
“It’s nothing I think about. It’s nice being referenced in that bracket, but more important is where the ball goes. At what pace it does it is really irrelevant. Speed is not something that’s occupying my mind. More important is what I do with the ball,”
the fast bowler added.
