After watching Steven Finn bowl in the Performance Program match, the young batsman Joe Root believes the English fast bowler is back at his best, despite skipping net practice on Sunday.
Finn missed the first two games after suffering from a thigh injury which occurred during the warm up match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 A. After reports revealed that the injury was not too severe, Finn was kept in the squad in hope of his timely recovery.
Looking at the 23-year-old bowl against D Y Patil Academy XI, where he claimed 4 wickets, Joe Root believed the fast bowler was back in form.
“He bowled fantastically well, and got some wickets and good overs under his belt. I think he's pretty happy with where he's at now, and it will be interesting to see how things go over the next three days in training,” said Root.
Answering a question over Finn’s return to the Test side for the 3rd game against India at Kolkata, Root said, “I'd like to think so. He's got three big training days coming up, so I'm sure he'll find out (if he is needed) in due course.”
After a poor show by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820, he is likely to be replaced by Finn, if the latter is declared fit.
After a controversy revolving the track at Kolkata, The curator at Eden Gardens, Prabir Mukherjee, took it out on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 by tagging his call for turning wickets as “immoral”. However, the experienced curator stated on Sunday that the issue had been resolved
and a used Test pitch will feature in the game.
Mukherjee also revealed that the track will have good pace and bounce, which is more likely to push for Finn’s inclusion in the playing XI.
Scoring 166 in the warm-up game against D Y Patil Academy for the EPP, Root believes having the weight of runs behind his back was crucial for the batsman as it might earn him a Test debut.
The 4-match Test series between the two sides still hangs in the balance (1-1). The next game at Kolkata will play a pivotal role in the outcome of the series.
