Steven Gerrard and Martin Kelly to return for Liverpool soon; Burnley’s Jack Cork out with illness

Steven Gerrard to return next week
Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard is closer to making a comeback than originally thought. The England international could be returning to action as soon as next week after undergoing a surgery for a groin problem he had been suffering.
He was originally ruled out for over a month, which meant he would miss out the clash against West Brom in the English Premier League. However, he could be joining the rest of the squad for training soon and could feature next week if he is declared fully
fit by the medical staff.
The Liverpool first team coach Steve Clarke was hopeful on the progress of Gerrard and defender Martin Kelly, who could be ruled out for the remainder of the season. With most of them scheduled to return soon, the Reds could have some of their important
players back in a few weeks time.
Clarke said while speaking to reporters, “They're all improving. Fingers crossed, we will have Martin Kelly and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonjo-Shelvey-c19081, who has been out for a long time. Fabio Aurelio is
also making good progress.”

Martin Kelly, the 20-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 right back, has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a recurrent hamstring injury. The defender is unlikely to feature in the rest of the season, having recently suffered from another hamstring strain
which previously kept him out for a month.
The Reds had hoped Kelly would make a quick recovery, with the youngster having previously been sidelined for long term injuries. However, he seems to be set for another long spell on the sidelines which will undoubtedly affect his chances of securing a
place in the first team under Kenny Dalglish.
Kelly is a product of the Liverpool youth academy but his progress has always been affected by various injuries throughout his career. He was promoted to the senior team in 2007 and since then has also been on loan to Huddersfield Town, returning to Anfield
in 2009.
Jack Cork out of action
Jack Cork, the Chelsea midfielder who is currently on loan to Burnley, is under observation after suffering palpitations during the England under-21 clash against Iceland on Monday. The Blues player had to be replaced and was taken to the hospital shortly
after.
Medical tests are currently being carried out and it is not certain what is wrong with the England under-21 international but it is suspected that he is suffering from some sort of virus. The youngster has had a successful spell with Burnley and previously
hinted he was keen on a permanent move to the Championship side.
He has found the back of the net three times in 33 appearances this season and has been impressive overall. A more permanent move from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 to Burnley seems possible in the upcoming summer transfer window. The England under-21 coach Stuart Pearce revealed
he was not entirely sure of Cork’s condition.
Pearce said while speaking to reporters, “He had palpitations in the first half and said he wasn't feeling so well so we have taken him to hospital just for precautionary status. That's as far as I know at the moment but obviously our doctors will be in
contact with the hospital.”
