Liverpool captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Bellamy-c9471 is the reason for the Reds beating City over two legs in the Carling cup and making it to Wembley after 16 years.
The Reds headed into their second leg game against Manchester City with a one goal advantage from the first leg.
As the match progressed, Steven Gerrard went on to convert from the penalty spot, only to see http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigel-de-Jong-c27882 score a cracker and even things out in the game.
City then went on to take the lead as Edin Dzeko scored from close range and brought the overall score level in the tie.
With just fifteen minutes left on the clock, Bellamy went on to find space in the box as he sent a left foot finish into the back of the net.
The goal scored by the attacker proved to be the decisive factor, as Liverpool edged past City by three goals to two on aggregate.
Gerrard believes that Liverpool might have not gone through and made it to the next round of the tournament, had it not been for Bellamy and his brilliant performance in the game.
"Craig was the difference.
"His pace was always a threat and we know that if a chance falls to him he can finish. It's a big thanks to him.”
"We had to be positive and brave. Man City have so much quality and our decision to attack them paid off.”
Gerrard then went on to admit that it had been a while since http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 made it so far ahead in a tournament and that it felt rather revealing to do so.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international then ended by adding: "It's a great feeling, it's been a while"
"Since playing at Cardiff in 2006, it's been too long for this club. I'm delighted for everyone, especially the fans."
Liverpool have managed to surprise just about everyone with their win over Manchester City in the Carling Cup. Hardly anyone believed the Reds could beat the Manchester based team, but now that they have, it seems like a trophy could potentially be heading
to Anfield at the end of the season after all.
