Liverpool’s captain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 has admitted that he is looking forward to putting an end to the Reds trophy drought, as he looks to help the team win the Carling Cup.
The Reds are set to take on Cardiff in the finals of the tournament on the twenty sixth of February. The team hasn’t managed to win a trophy since 2006, when they went on to beat West Ham United in the FA Cup.
However, with many players believing the Carling Cup isn’t as important as everyone is making it out to be, Gerrard has gone on to insist that the club still holds a lot of importance for the team. At the same time, the midfielder admitted that winning the
trophy could give the team the extra boost that they need to try and finish in the top four.
Gerrard, when talking about the upcoming game and just how important it is for Liverpool to win the trophy is quoted to have said: "Everyone knows the club has been through some tough times but we're moving forward now”
"We're all desperate to bring success back. It's what we're working so hard to achieve.”
"I'm hoping this is just the beginning for us. It would be stupid to win the League Cup and then rest on our laurels. This is an important cup for us but there are other big prizes we want to strive for,” he explained.”
"I honestly believe winning this cup will be the catalyst for a successful period for the club. It will certainly give us the belief and confidence to deliver more.”
Given the form http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 have started to display in recent weeks, the team is being hailed as one of the favourites to go on and win the tournament.
The Reds have all most all of their first team fit to play in the game and hence Kenny Dalglish is going to field his strongest starting eleven.
Nonetheless, despite that fact there is still room for a massive upset, as just about anything can happen in the game.
However, should Liverpool win the trophy, then their Premier League campaign is more than likely to get a massive boost.
