England’s talismanic midfielder has accepted that England can play better than they did in their 1-0 win over Norway and that they should do just that in their future international encounters as the Three Lions prepare for
the 2012 European Championships...
Ashley Young’s powerful first half strike was the difference in the end between England and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 did not play up to their full potential against the Norwegian
national team. Young linked up well with Carroll for the only goal of the match as Gerrard led the team against Norway as England gained the lead in the first 45 minutes but then failed to make an impact in the remainder of the match as the encounter turned
into a stalemate.
Nonetheless, England did emerge victorious and so did Roy Hodgson in his first match in charge of the national team. England are currently preparing for the European Championships where they are set to take on a group which includes
the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899. Gerrard and co. are still not sure as to what system Roy will adopt at the tournament itself but right now England are acclimatizing themselves to their new manager’s methods and techniques.
Gerrard said, "It was a satisfying night overall, if you look at the result and the clean sheet, for my first game as official captain and Roy's first game. We know that we can play better than that. Hopefully once we get used
to the manager a bit more, and have more of his training sessions, and the message hits home a bit more, we will improve.”
He added, "The more we get used to the manager, then better performances will come. When every manager comes in, there is a bit of pressure on and it is always important to start well. There were quite a few positives to take from
tonight."
England do not have a particularly eye catching record in the European Championships as they failed to qualify for the ones in 2008 and before that they failed to win on penalty shootout against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 at the quarterfinal stage
in 2004 European Championships.
