Liverpool skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 has slammed the Reds supporters who have asked for the removal of manager Kenny Dalglish after the 3-1 loss to Bolton Wanderers.
The Reds went on to lose 3-1 to the Trotters, who are currently battling relegation at the bottom half of the Premier League table. The manager questioned the players' desire and commitment following the shameful defeat which has seen Dalglish piled up with most of the blame.
So far http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 have managed to secure just a point this month, which has left the fans very unhappy with the club. They have complained mostly about the manager, who they believed should be removed if Liverpool are to overcome their slump.
However, Gerrard does not believe that is the solution to Liverpool’s poor form. He urged the fans to support the team and the manager through thick and thin and denied all reports of a possible change in management at this point in the season.
Gerrard said while speaking to reporters:
“The few whispers about a change of manager after one defeat is ludicrous, absolutely ludicrous and I just take no notice of that at all.
The thing that needs to change is the people here need to try and not put in performances like the one against Bolton, but get back to the way we've been 95 per cent of the time under Kenny.”
The Liverpool skipper believed his side had been in great form under Dalglish and to speak of change after a single defeat was unfair to the team and the manager. He revealed he thought he had a decent side under him and that they would go on to do well in the season.
Gerrard admitted he expected the fans to be disappointed, but felt they needed to be more patient so the team could improve.
He continued:
“We are playing better football and I'll argue to the death with anyone who says we are not as good a squad as last year.
We totally understand that certain sections of supporters will be getting frustrated but it is down to us to put it right.”
