Steven Pienaar's agent dismisses Inter Milan talk
Steven Pienaar's agent has dismissed reports linking the Everton midfielder with a move to Italy to play for Inter Milan.
Pienaar's contract with Everton is due to expire at the end of the season. The fact a new deal has not yet been agreed is being viewed by some within media circles that the 28-year-old South African could
be on his way out of the club.
"Nothing is true. Steven's contract is expiring and the press continue to report rumours about his future.
But I've never met anyone of Inter. I know of the interest of several teams only through the newspapers," said his agent Ivan Modia to
calciomercatoweb.it.
It doesn't make much sense for Pienaar to seek a move away from Everton because he is a valued and respected member of David Moyes' team. This is just an example of the
rumour mill in full flow.
No sense in moving
Under the management of David Moyes, Pienaar has turned into one of the best midfield players in the Premier League. He is guaranteed games at Everton and he's familiar
with the way the team and the club operates.
He has settled in Merseyside and moving away would mean moving his family and close friends away from the area as well. It would have to take a very good deal for Pienaar
to even consider this.
It's only natural that rumours emerge when a player has a contract due to expire. This has been around in football over the last few seasons and is something that won't
change. Everton will hope that Pienaar ignores any news stories.
"Would he like to play in Italy? At this time, Steven doesn't want to hear about his future, he's recovering from his injury and
thinking only about playing his football. We are still in November, we are calm and waiting to see how it goes this season," added Modia.
