Steven Richardson and Richard Bland confirmed for American Golf Holiday's Scottsdale Classic Pro-Am - Golf News
Steven Richardson and Richard Bland have confirmed to play in the American Golf Holiday's Scottsdale Classic Pro-Am scheduled from February 4-11, 2012. It will be their first appearance in the tournament since it began in 2001.
The Scottsdale Classic will be played on six courses with the final round ending on the renowned TPC Scottsdale golf course, which is known for its lush greens and beautiful environment.
Steven Richardson participated in the Ryder Cup, representing the European team that lost to the United States team in 2001. His record in the event was two wins against one loss.
Both of his wins came in partnership with Mark James. However, he lost his singles match against Corey Pavin on the final day of the tournament.
In addition to this, he was also part of the English team that won the Alfred Dunhill Cup earlier in 1992.
On the other hand, Richard Bland is currently a European Tour player. Participation of both the players has boosted prestige of the tournament.
“We are delighted with the strength of this year's field and the increased number of Pro-Am teams,” said the tournament organiser, John Hooper, while talking to the media on Monday.
“Scottsdale is without doubt one of the best winter golf destinations and our line-up of courses is simply superb,” he added.
The 2012 edition of the tournament will be its 12th staging and the participants will have a chance to qualify for the USPGA Tour's WM Phoenix Open.
It will be a unique opportunity for the players and they will be working a little harder this time to earn a place in the WM Phoenix Open.
One of the interesting facts about this event is the overwhelming number of spectators coming to the field to watch the event. It is, therefore, also known as 'the greatest show on grass'.
Over the past few years, the event has gained immense popularity due to the quality golf. Every year, more and more quality players are confirming to join the event, highlighting its growing credibility.
