Steven Taylor transfer-listed by Newcastle United
Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor has been put on the transfer list, according to reports.
It is believed contract talks had broken down, with Newcastle offering Taylor around £40,000-a-week, but representatives of Taylor wanting close to £60,000-a-week.
Taylor is currently sidelined with a dislocated shoulder he sustained during a pre-season game. The 24-year old’s contract expires at the end of this season, and Newcastle are keen to not let him leave on a free transfer should he choose to see out the final year of his current deal.
Taylor’s agent revealed negotiations between the club and Taylor had not been running smoothly.
“I'm hopeful that there will be some movement in the near future," said Stretford at the time. “In the case of Steven, it's typical of modern contract negotiations; they can become difficult and drawn-out.”
Taylor has been at Newcastle for the whole of his career, and suffered a broken jaw after a training ground altercation with teammate Andy Carroll.
A Newcastle spokesperson said: "We can confirm that Steven Taylor is on the transfer list."
