Steven Zimmerman wins Men’s 200m freestyle gold title: Day three – 2011 YMCA Long Course Nationals
Steven Zimmerman of Countryside-OH pocketed the gold medal of the Men’s 200m freestyle event on third day of the 2011 Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Long Course Nationals on Wednesday, July 27, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Zimmerman conquered the gold medal of the 200m event, by posting a miraculous time of 1 minute and 54.83 seconds. He was followed by Kevin Rogers of triangle Area-NC, who stayed just 0.05 seconds behind him and occupied the victory stand for the silver medal
in the event, with a timing of 1 minute and 54.89 seconds. Dylan Ludwick of Tri-Hampton-PA was the third fastest swimmer of the freestyle swim, as he stayed only 0.03 seconds behind the silver medallist and submitted a time of 1 minute and 54.98 seconds.
Zimmerman’s time was 4.08 seconds ahead of the national mark of 1 minute and 50.75 seconds, set by Tim Phillips of Marietta-OH in 2009.
The fourth fastest spot of the swim was secured by Sava Turcanu of Hickory –NC, who completed his swim behind Ludwick with a difference of 0.51 seconds and clocked 1 minute and 55.43 seconds. Justin Mehl of Middle Tyger-SC emerged as the fifth fastest swimmer
of the event, as he remained only 0.09 seconds behind his preceding swimmer and produced a time of 1 minute and 55.69 seconds. Sean Monahan of ME Lyons-OH followed Reed on the finishing wall as the seventh finest finisher, as he reported in a time of 1 minute
and 57.53 seconds.
Ryan McRae of Suncoast-FL was the eighth swimmer of the 200m swim, as he ended his swim in a time of 1 minute and 57.70 seconds. He was followed by Alex Bryson and Fox Cities-WI, who clocked a ninth fastest time of 1 minute and 58.09 seconds. Jeffrey Donovin
of SomersetValleyNJ was the last swimmer to complete his swim, as he posted a time of 1 minute and 58.36 seconds.
The crowd enjoyed the wonderful swims of all participants, while Zimmerman expressed happiness over his comfortable win in the 200m freestyle category.
