The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven and Hamburg manager is confident ahead of his side's Bundesliga clash with Die Bayern on Saturday, and has insisted that the team needs to concentrate.
Schalke head coach, Huub Stevens, is looking forward to the weekend’s league game against the Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich at the Veltins Arena. The team trainer is hoping that Die Knappen will beat FC Hollywood and improve
their rankings on the standings table. He claimed that his side has no reason to be awe of the Bavarian giants.
The former Dutch defender is pleased with the German side’s positive start to the campaign, and believes they will overcome the threat of the league’s most successful club when they take them on in their home ground.
The tactician stated that being confident against Bayern will not help their case. He suggested that they have enjoyed good score-lines in their opening games, but there are still flaws in the team which will need to be rectified.
"Confidence alone isn't enough to beat Bayern. Our results in the first few games have been good but we still have some inconsistencies in our play," Stevens was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the Allianz Arena side have changed their style of play from the last campaign to a more pressing and high paced game. However, Stevens reiterated that his side needs to improve themselves and not worry about
their opponents. He stressed that they need to have self-belief and the will to get a good result.
"Bayern are playing a different kind of football compared to last season. They press much more and switch the play faster,” he mused.
"But we have to focus on our own qualities rather than worrying about our opponents. We have to play with courage and belief. We've no reason to be afraid of Bayern. Fear is a bad counsellor," he finally concluded.
Schalke will host Der FCB on Saturday at the Veltins Arena and will be looking forward to get a victory to usurp the league leaders in the Bundesliga table.
