  1. A steward is someone who cares for or protects something.  So, your teaching is asking how you specifically care for or protect the environment.  Perhaps you dispose of hazardous chemicals wisely so they don't pollute water?  Picking up trash, walking instead of driving to reduce pollution, etc.

Sustainability is using resources in a way that will not deplete them unnecessarily.  So, not wasting food, not buying new things when they aren't needed, not driving so much, reducing electricity usage, etc. are all ways to live more sustainably.  Using a reusable bottle and filling it with tap water vs. buying bottled water that has been shipped across the country and uses all that plastic.
