http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stewart-Downing-c34221 and Liverpool look to keep pace with the trendsetters – English Premier League
Stewart Downing has come out and said that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 are willing to keep pace with the English Premier League leaders Manchester United in their pursuit for glory in the new Premier League season. The Reds were woeful last season
as they suffered under the guidance of Roy Hodgson but they did have a better second half of the season under Kenny Dalglish. Liverpool eventually finished 6th last season and missed out on a Europa League spot in the end due to their final day
defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. In the 2011-2012 English Premier League season, the Reds have been steadily improving whilst finding the right mix of players for their starting line up.
Kenny Dalglish has had to mix and match between his front men which include the likes of Luis Suarez, Andy Carroll, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Bellamy-c9471. Liverpool won against their Merseyside rivals Everton in their latest Premier League
fixture which was once again marred with a red card for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Rodwell-c17462 from the Toffees side. Liverpool benefitted from Rodwell’s dismissal as they secured a 2-0 win over their derby competitors.
Liverpool’s winger Stewart Downing spoke about his team’s ambitions in the new Premier League season in his post-match remarks as he said, "It is easy to slip away from the pack when you lose a couple and we didn't want to do that.
I think the two victories keep us in with that [pack] going into the international break. The derby win was a big three points for us. Winning meant a lot to the fans but the main thing for us was getting the three points. We needed it to stay in the pack.
We're going into the break in good form and we have to ensure we keep it going."
Andy Carroll the Liverpool striker who netted a special goal against Everton in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 and beating
them at their place is special but you have to keep it going. The dressing room was just buzzing afterwards. Everyone was over the moon. We've got Manchester United next game and I've got to make sure I keep doing well week in and week out now.”
Liverpool’s season has only just started but with a tough fixture against Manchester United coming up at Anfield, it will be interesting to see how Kenny Dalglish prepares his team to take on the league leaders as well as the defending
champions. United have been on fire thus far as they are unbeaten in the Premier League and will aim to retain their unbeaten status when they visit Anfield after the international break.
