Influential Liverpool winger Stewart Downing has claimed that he feels at home at Anfield and is happy to have joined the Merseyside club.
The 27-year-old English winger joined Liverpool from Aston Villa for a reported fee of £20 million in the recently concluded summer transfer window. The English international has played a crucial role in Dalglish’s team’s impressive start to the ongoing
2011/12 Barclays Premier League season.
Though the former Villa man is yet to open his goalscoring account in Liverpool’s shirt, his overall contribution has been very immense. The 27-year-old has now become a vital member of the Reds’ team, who are currently placed fifth in the league standings.
Downing has thanked Liverpool’s players and staff members for helping him settle at the Anfield. The English midfielder said in an interview with the club’s official magazine:
"It was easy to feel at home here with the lads. It's a good club with good people. There is a good group of players and they've all helped me."
Dalglish signed a number of new players during the summer to strengthen his squad and the former Middlesbrough winger has expressed his contentment over the way Liverpool’s current squad is getting together and gelling as a team.
"It's a big part of football. If team-mates aren't getting on, then you don't tend to do well.”
The Anfield club saw the arrival of Charlie Adam, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Henderson-c19102, Jose Enrique and Stewart Downing in the summers. The former Villa man believes that Dalglish’s new signings still needs some time to settle at the club.
"We're still a relatively new group. Some of the lads like Stevie [Gerrard] and Carra [http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jamie-Carragher-c17728] have been here since day one. A few others like Pepe [Reina] and Dirk [Kuyt] have been here a couple of years, then there's quite a few of us who have
only arrived recently. There's a good mix," the English international added.
