Stewart Downing to hand in transfer request – Arsenal and Liverpool get their cheque books ready
Aston Villa winger, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stewart-Downing-c34221 seems to be on the brink of making a formal request to be allowed to part ways with the club.
The player has been rumoured to be on his way out of the club for a couple of months and it seems like that the winger is looking to finally push through with an exit.
The twenty six year old currently has two years left on his contract, but, he has made it pretty clear that he has no intention of renewing his contract with the club, when his contract comes to an end. As a result, the Villans are seriously considering about letting the player leave.
Should they decide to hold onto the midfielder and if he picks up an injury next season, then his market price would significantly take a hit. On The other hand, clubs might just go on to lose interest in landing the player. The nineteen million pound price tag that has currently been placed on the player’s head, might seem like a farfetched thought should anything along those lines happen.
At the moment, both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and Liverpool are reported to be interested in landing the player. Both teams are currently feeling the pressure, due to the inadequate wing play that their teams have been producing and are willing to bet that Downing can help save them.
Out of the two, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Young-c6813, however with him joining Manchester United, they are now looking to settle for Downing.
On the other hand, Arsenal are still looking to wrap up a deal for Lille forward, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gervinho-c14755, who was supposed to be on his way to the club a couple of weeks ago.
One of the prime reasons for Downing wanting to pursue his career elsewhere, is down to the fact that the player wants to play at the highest of levels, which is something that Villas just can’t offer him.
The winger has so far managed to make twenty seven appearances for the English national side, which by all means is a rather low number of appearances to make for a player like Downing. As a result, the player is hoping that a move to a bigger club would also see him come in the limelight for the national team and would hence help him better hone his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Skills-c40539 and take his career into a whole new direction.
