Stewed dish with beef and potatoes turned out too spicy! Any ideas on how to make it less spicy?

  1. Add some lemon. It's makes things less spicy and less salty.


  2. U can add some lime juice to tone down the spicyness. I always do that. Or u can use a bit of butter or margarine.

    Otherwise, pour out abt 1/4 of the liquid, add some water & whatever other spices u use for flavouring & simmer till it's done.

  3. lotsa butter, cream, etc. salt and sugar help.

    also you could add water, and then subtract that same amount liquid from the stew, thereby making it less spicy, but also losing flavor.

  4. add mayonaise

  5. dump half of the liquid out and fill the now empty half with water. adjust the seasonings after.  If you just added water to it without dumping some out first you would get a spicy  under seasoned stew.

  6. Hmmmm...perhaps you can add more veges and potatos, double the recipe, except for the spices, and serve over hot noodles.
