Steyn ruled out of 3rd Test?

Dale Steyn, South Africa's best fast bowler, has been ruled out of the 3rd Test match between England and South Africa with a thumb injury.

Andre Nel or Monde Zondeki are the likely replacements.

How much of a blow will this be to South Africa, and does it tilt the balance back in England's favour?

  1. It's a hard blow for SA as they rely so heavily on a pace attack. But I don't think the loss of him for one game will be too much of a worry for them, especially if Nel comes back into the team (haven't heard too much of Zondeki) who is a very capable replacement. I really don't think it'll favour England much at all because SA's batting line up is so strong and is still intact.

  2. now i think it will spice things up a bit if they pick Andre Nel

i love that guy !    i cant wait .. hes no slouch hel take wickets so iv got to say its not going to help England ,,,but itl be alot more entertainment for the viewer

    .

  3. It's definitely a blow, not just for the Proteas, but for the viewing public. Steyn seemed to be finding his form after the slip up at Lords, but I still think South Africa has a formidable line-up of quicks that should be able to take 20 wickets a match. It'll be a bit more difficult now, but still achievable...

  4. Yea broken thumb.i guess.he s ma best bowler n i really want to see him ball.England camp must be happy.

  5. It is regrettable, but if they go with Nel, I think they will be OK. I don't know anything about Zondeki I'm afraid.

  6. really ????? its a big blow.. and england now have good chance to bounce back and level series

  7. Yes saw that one.

It is a blow, but I dont think it tilts the balance back in England's favour. I would say equals the balance .

  8. If it was Morne Morkel, I would be bouncing off the ceilings.

It will be a blow, as Ntini isn't firing as anticipated, but it doesn't tilt the balance in England's favour. South Africa's batting line up could be said to be far superior to England's. It's one man out of their attack, South Africa have the people to replace him.

  9. It will make the contest a lot closer and Vaughan is probably smiling because of all the problems Steyn gives him Nel is a good enough replacement but he is not as lethal as Steyn so the england batsmen should be a lot happier but Nel is a fine test bowler who will take wickets and give opposition a hard time but this does weaken the South African team slightly and opens the door for england to come back in the series hopefully SA can still perform and get at least a draw at Edgbaston because players like young De Villiers are hungry to win test series in england:)

  10. yes i agree ,..its unlucky ,.hat,.South Africa's best fast bowler

is not playing  in 3rd test~
